The death of a child is like a stone,
cast into the stillness of a quiet pool;
the concentric ripples of despair sweep out in all directions,
affecting many, many people.
--De Frain, 1991
Today the skyline over Charlottesville is gray because we lost one of our children. This blog was created in remembrance of Ntanga Musie, who died yesterday August 11, 2009. He died doing what he loved best, playing soccer. This blog is a celebration of Ntanga’s life and the love that surrounded him. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to Ntanga’s family; Edgar, his father, Margaret, his mother, Lushaka (Lushi), his brother, and Phophi, his sister. No words can relieve the sorrow of the loss of a child. However, as best stated by author Jareb Teague “Even hundredfold grief is divisible by love." Please help us in remembering Ntanga and his beautiful family.

This is a beautiful tribute to a boy who showed us what "the beautiful game" really means. We are so heartbroken for the loss of Tanga, and for the unimaginable loss for Edgar and Margaret and the kids. These photos remind of us of Tanga's love of soccer and how his dedication and love of the game inspired our team.

The opening poem is truly beautiful and an appropriate way to sum up the short amount of time our world shared Tanga. We cannot imagine how the Musies must be feeling. Our hearts are hurting for and with them. Hopefully they can sense the support of Tanga's soccer family here in Charlottesville.

When Ntanga and his family first came to C'ville, he played on my husband's team with our son, Michael. Ntanga was a wonderful, sweet, compassionate boy from an amazing family. His smile, so much like Edgar's, could light up the world and it did. He was a great soccer player but he was an even greater person. C'ville and the SOCA family has truly lost a bright star. Edgar, Margaret, Lushi and Poppie, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Ntanga was a great kid, and he still is. He has a contagious smile that will always be remembered. Jouett is greatly affected by this Tragedy and we all love him so much. Our prayers are with his family and soccer team. God Bless.

My 4 year old son, Harry, loved to watch and listen to Ntanga play the violin. Ntanga had taken good care of Harry during the times I left my son with his family. We thank Margaret, Edgar, Lushi and Poppie for sharing Ntanga with us. We mourn with the whole family. We mourn with Harry, who just lost his big brother.

my deepest condolances to you Edgar and your family. I only met Nthanga once during Lufuno's dinner...all a saw was a caring young man who loved his little sister to bits...i remember he was even trying to feed her...tears may dry but memories may fade but he will live on forever in our hearts
ReplyDeleterest in peace Nthanga
I did not have the opportunity to know Ntanga as many of you have, but I was able to meet him at a recent birthday party for Cirle's son Harry. I saw a beautiful boy with the same cheerful attitude and bit of boylike mischeviousness I often I see in Edgar. It is obvious that he was a loving child, loved by many. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family Edgar.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts go out to the Musie family. This is such a tragedy and we will all miss Ntanga's wonderful spirit and soccer prowess. Edgar and Margaret, please know that are thoughts are with you.

ReplyDeleteEdgar and Family, words are not enough to convey the way I feel about your family's loss. I unfortunately never met Ntanga but the loss of your precious baby pains my heart to the point of tears. I will say a prayer for you and your family and thoughts will be with you all throughout these trying times. God Bless.

My heart is breaking for the Musie family. It's awful to lose a loved one, and to lose a child is undescribable. My son Hunter played soccer with Ntanga on Chris Chilsholm's team, and was a classmate of his at Jouett. Having lost my oldest son suddenly at the age of 12 (3 years ago) I feel the pain that Edgar and Margaret must be having. Edgar and Margaret - please reach out if you need anything.

My son's Lynchburg team played against Ntanga and over the past year on several occasions. Our family and especially my son was saddened to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.
ReplyDeleteNtanga was a great person and a great friend. He had such a contagious smile that everyone will remember. Everyone will miss him very much but he is in a better place now. Rest in peace Ntanga
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your support, prayers and words of comfort. We really appreciate your kindness. You were there for us when we needed you. May our lord richly bless you all. Edgar, magreth, Lushaka and Phophi MUSIE
ReplyDeleteI had the pleasure of coaching Ntanga in the Spring of 2007. He was so full of energy and enthusiasm that he quickly became an inspiration not only to his teammates but to myself and the other coaches as well. I am deeply saddened by his passing, and my thoughts and prayers rest with the Musie family. Rest in peace Ntanga, and God bless.
