Memorial Service/Celebration of Ntanga:

A memorial service and celebration of Ntanga’s life will be held at Jack Jouett Middle School at 6 pm on Monday, August 17, 2009. The funeral and burial will be held at a later date in South Africa. During the memorial service, we are asking that fellow soccer players wear their uniforms if desired. The service is designed to celebrate Ntanga’s life and our precious time with him. We will have some prearranged speakers, but there will be an opportunity during the ceremony when impromptu comments from friends will be shared. An Albemarle County schools orchestra will play at the service in honor of his musical talents and contribution to the orchestra at Jack Jouett. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 8 pm. Mia White has graciously arranged for food to be available during the reception.

In lieu of flowers, information regarding memorial contributions will be posted on this site within the next 24 hours. (The plans for the Ntanga Musie Fund are in the final stages.)

In honor of a South African tradition, swatches of black cloth will be available for attendees to pin on their clothing. [In South Africa, these would be worn to symbolize those in mourning and sometimes worn for 4-6 weeks after the loss of a loved one.]

  2. Our Prayer for You This Morning

    Dear God,

We thank you for the winds that blew the Musie family from their village in South Africa to ours here in Charlottesville. This morning, we thank you especially for their pure spirits.

Pure smiles that say come on in and lighten the load
    Pure passion for a game
    Pure love between brothers
    Pure adoration for a sister
Pure honor for each other, each day

A family where cross words don’t mean puzzles or brazen speech, but rather words that take you to love and service and hope.

As we account for the blessings that they have been to us, we pray that, in return, we will be exactly they need. A sister who effortlessly listens, a mother who holds on tight, wise counsel, a provider of bread. . .and maybe even a muse to ease their journey.

We thank you that when sorrow rips at their hearts, you are there for them ~ to provide comfort and healing. To transform despair and pain and voids into hope.

We hold them close today Dear Lord. We hope for fortitude, that surprises even them and we pray for peace that is rich and unencumbered.

  3. Ntanga was a great friend. He was on my soccer team he would never hog the ball he would pass it to everyone. We were at the Frostbite and it was a corner kick no one was gurding me and Ntanga was going to pass the soccer ball to Germo, but he missed the ball and it came to me, so Ntanga helped me get my frist goal in the Frostbite tournament ever. He was a great person and will always have a place in my heart♥
